So I know ill probably get the "don't be cheap and cough up 20 bucks but the question is: I want to tether my D2G to my unactivated Eris to receive an update for it. I already did last night to see if the wireless tethering app worked (its called opengarden or something.) I heard that if VZW detects unauthorized tethering they send you to a web page to sign up for their tethering plan. I hope this is the case because I was about to surf the web for a few minutes last night. Can you confirm this? Or do they secretly bill you for it? 5 mb's I can handle. 134 I cant

May be easier to just root the Eris and install whatever you want on it.

I need to be on the OTA to root using the superoneclick app I have for it. That's why I want to tether (its one of those once in a blue moon things.)
