Monoprice Car Charger gets Hot?

I bought this car charger after it was recommended on this forum:

HDMI Cable, Home Theater Accessories, HDMI Products, Cables, Adapters, Video/Audio Switch, Networking, USB, Firewire, Printer Toner, and more!

When using it, the charger gets hot and I get the slight sense of burning rubber when I smell the charger up close. Maybe it just smells like this because the rubber is new? I felt the usb cord leading to the phone and it is cool and the phone acts totally normal when I use it plugged in.

By the way, this is my first post. I've been a lurker for a while. This forum is awesome, really saved me a lot of headache!

I have the same one and it also gets hot (not too hot to touch). I'm not concerned about it, I think it's normal.

My experience is the same. It gets hot but not too hot. I thought we'd get more responses since Monoprice is given such good reviews on this forum.
