Microphone doesnt work

I have tried everything to get my mic working but its not working now i got my phone in december and have never encountered this problem. I have had the headphone problem happen once but i fixed that and havent used headphones since... im really confused the speakers work fine just the microphone doesnt work people cant hear me and the voice dial cant hear me either. the problem has lasted a day can someone please help

Have you tried the standard trick to fix things? A battery pull? Pull it long enough so the capacitors discharge (30 seconds or so).

I have removed the battery and it has had no effect
