MAP(message access profile) questions

i have the moto droid rooted with ud2.4 and i bought a blueant q1 headset and downloaded the app for it and i cant get the phone to play through the bluetooth headset even though it is supposed to..i have it checked in the settings and i have been researching a lil and it seems that the phone i have doesnt support "map" for bluetooth on it...does the custom roms allow this? cause i have one and it still isnt working...anyone have their text playing through their headsets? this is a must for me seeming i get a lot of texts so this sucks...can someone please help me and if u need additional info, just ask..i know the bluetooth supports it and the app i downloaded does also for the specific device....i dont know if i just need a higher rated bluetooth app in my phone or what

AHHH! What's the answer? I've been looking for the same thing because every custom ROM I've tried breaks the bluetooth text messaging (for my Ford SYNC system). I'd like to put it whatever it is back into a custom ROM.

Good luck with that. Getting the answer that is.

I can't believe with such a strong community that nobody has an answer for this yet. The custom ROMS are a dream, especially GummyJar, but for me they lack one vital piece of functionality. I happily donated for the work on the ROM, I'd happily do the same for the bluetooth/sync fix. That's right, beer for bluetooth, come with it!

Yes, it is really too bad that the one poster here who 'figured it out' has failed to come back here and help you out. Because apparently no one else has the answer. Sorry.

So, you have to root the X in order for the texting to work in MyFordTouch? I just got my Edge last week, and am trying to figure out what phone to get so that the texting will work. I went to the verizon store & took the x and the droid 2 out to my car, both say message sent, but they dont really work.

DroidX works

You don't need to root with DroidX, works stock as it. There is an extra setup step to the Sync system to turn on text messages after you sync the phone. Once you do though, text messages will come in and show as an envelope on the car display. You can tell sync to read it and it will. Sending messages via Sync is cludgy at best, and my sync says "send error" even though they do actually go.

What is that extra step? What settings do I change? Here I thought I was so close to figuring out which phone I needed. Found specs on the new Bionic (to be released June ish) & thought it had the features I need. But now I see that the Droid 2 Global also has the MAP and the PBAP. But I couldnt get it to work for me, probably that extra setting. Got the specs from Phonearena.com. Would you trust that to be accurate? Thanks in advance for your help!

Once the phone is synced, the text messaging menu can be accessed and you can set a few options in there, I don't remember exactly what they are, but you turn the functionality of it on or off in there. I can't speak for any phone other than the DroidX. You might try creating your own topic and see what others on here have to say.

Bionic Good to go!

I think we are good with the new Bionic released this week on Verizon.
