Earlier this week vulnerability expert "vortox" released a Tool for the Kindle Fire HDX which allows you to write recoveries and bootloaders. The tool does this by exploiting a vulnerability that was published on the CodeAurora Forum. The vulnerability is exploited in the android bootloader called "Little Kernel". You don't need to be unlocked for this to work either since the tool is able to sign images which pass the verification stages. This may also work on many other devices using pre June 13th 2014 Little Kernel bootloaders. The tool requires Linux, and you have to have some other specific parameters and python. This method is not for the faint of heart. You can head to the link below for the full install guide.
