I have a stock 2.1 Moto Droid with My Backup Pro. It doesn't include Maps in the list of backups and I want to back it up so I can revert to it if I have a problem with the upgrade.
System Panel App also backs up Maps. It's a paid app but doesn't require root.
Astro also has app backup/restore, and that backed up Maps too.
System Panel App does multi version archiving, though.
Of course, that's just backing up the apps, not the settings and stuff. For that you need Titanium. It's why I'll probably root eventually; aside from any OC'ing or custom roms; I want to be able to backup my Droid the way I can my PC.

What are you backing up exactly? The program itself I assume? I guess I'm asking because I've switched phones once this year and will again next month, but all of my info remains from phone to phone since it's mainly stored on the web. So, i'm assuming you're just talking versions of Google Maps, correct?

Yes, you are correct. I realized that you can't backup Maps unless it is upgraded from stock. Astro seems to be the only app that can do it, as I am not rooted...
