I am new to smartphones, can anybody tell me if it is possible to remote control a desktop computer in a network other than a home network??? I have a computer i use in my office in the university, and i wonder if i can control the dekstop of that computer from my phone when i am at school(using the same network)? (i do not have access to the router for port forwarding, do i need it???)

do a search in the market for vnc - there are quite a few free ones that come up. I haven't tried it yet.

I see that android-vnc-viewer will connect to a few vnc servers like realvnc. RealVNC is a free download on your pc so you can run the server, I use this and it works very well.

I think this is the info you are looking for - also the android-vnc-viewer is free too.

let us know how it works out for ya

It's easy and free to do, but you need to have someone set up a port forward in your router.

Remote Desktop is built into windows and easy to set up.

Remote RDP Lite is a Remote Desktop app that's free for Android.

Together you can do just about anything on your phone that you could do while sitting in front of the computer. I do it every day.
