The only downside to unlocking the bootloader of your Moto X is the fact that the process automatically changes your bootscreen to a nasty, ugly looking image stating that your bootloader is unlocked and your warranty is void. You can actually change this image pretty easily. This does require that you run a few commands via adb so you should be pretty comfortable with that. You will need to have both fastboot and adb files in the same folder as your new boot image. Then you will need to open up a command prompt from within that file and type "fastboot flash logo (logofile).bin". Head to the link below to download the new bootlogo's.
