How can I make it so I hear something to alert me a text came in when on a call?

Interesting. Not sure what phone you have but all of my phones have always made a sound when a text comes in while on the phone.

I use Go SMS Pro on a Rezound. This allows excellent customization, including nice customization of the vibration, which is what I use at all times. I can't stand beeps, bells, or ring tones!

It has an excellent widget as well, and is free.
