That will be for the unlocked international release, which sadly means that Verizon users will still have to wait another 1-3 months for it (users on other US carriers will probably have a good month or two of waiting as well).

I've seen articles saying that Samsung is going to bypass 4.2 and go right to 4.3 sometime after the new Nexus 7 debuts.

Yeah, I'd be really surprised if we see it in August. After the last update fiasco I'd be happy if its in October but works great when we get it.
