Checkout LED Flashlight from AdvancingBackwards in the market.

Wow! That's surprising! It works great on the DX. I used it all the time. I put the widget on my home screen and it always worked.

What happens when you try to use it? Have you tried it from the widget?

I use Color Flashlight. It allows for LED and/or screen with color and brightness.

cool. i'm actually using this now too. i really like the auto brightness it has. doesnt drain batt as fast and gives perfect amount of light as needed.
