This GB is totally worth loosing root for a while... besides now that it's out on the DX, there will be a lot more people working on it.
PS... you can always .SBF back.
The non-rooted GB is totally worth it but you better be comfortable with SBF because you will most likely need to go back to 2.2.1 to regain root and bring it through to GB... atleast according to P3Droids latest tweets

Nothing is worth losing 180 LCD density. It looks fugly as stock. I tried it last night and gave it a couple hours.. no thanks until the root instructions are given. Will stick with Blur 3.4.2 leak for now.
The 3.4.2 leak ran very well for me. It did well on battery life too.
I liked it a lot. I must say I haven't messed with the density much.
As a matter of fact, both 3.4.2 & the Gingerbread leak both ran way better and smoother than stock.

According to the previous threads you can root the new Gingerbread for X. I don't know how difficult it will be but it can be done.
I'm running the stock Gingerbread now on my D2, I can wait for root access. So far I'm pleased with the stock version, I would like to overclock/underclock again and have access to my root required apps and titanium back up.
