1) Thanks for the tip ref using the power button to end calls
2) I used Screbill for couple of days but ended up 'powering up phone/ overheating' while in my pocket
3) This is a wonderful site for giving and getting information--I thought that was the reason for the site????

There is a proximity setting in the build prop, actually in two places that can be edited. By default they are set to 460 (milliseconds), I changed mine to 1 on both areas. I do notice an increase in the speed of it coming back on.

At this point I am pretty aware of where the end call button is so I just push right there if it is delayed coming back on for some reason and that usually ends it right away.

PS... Just in case you didn't know, you do have to reboot after you edit those two fields to notice any change.

My X doesn't take 5 seconds for the screen to come on, more like a fraction of 1 second. Check your settings.

Also, using the power burton on top as an end call button [via the app Billhook mentioned] isn't uncomfortable at all, I just tired it.
