How does my phone gets affected if a root it...I'm new to all this

rooting allows you to delete system apps, install custom ROMs, change notification icons, mack a backup of all your downloaded apps and restore them when switching ROMs, overclocking the processor, change fonts, ect. pretty much anything you want to do, can be done after root. just be careful, and read until it hurts, then read some more. the developers here have made rooting super easy (search Z4 root) and romming really easy as well (search droid x bootstrap) it is pretty much impossible to brick these phones with a backup on your SD card and on your computer, plus there is SBFing which is motorolas way of getting software on your device if something goes wrong.
