Defeating caller id spoof?

Is there any app that would make it possible to prevent people from being able to use a spoofed number against you? I have no idea how spoofing of caller id works specifically but it is pretty annoying that I got a call today from my own cell number (was at work and didn't answer but my guess is a friend using PrankDial).

There's no way an app can do this. The caller info presented to you is the info supplied by the caller's network. No app running on your device has any control over it.
