Contacts to the Home Screen

OK I know this is a dumb one, especially since I've done it before...and can't for the life of me remember how...nor do I seem able to figure it out again....

how do you add individual contacts to the home screen?

How do I move icons from the storage screen to the home screen if it's already full? I don't want to have to move to the right or left screen.

If the home screen is full you can't place any more. You have to move something to a side screen. Long press & Hold, move to edge, hold screen should slide.
