cant turn on my phone..

the battery died last night and im charging it now, but it wont turn on! and it seems to be charging because the little white light is on. what seems to be the problem here??

I haven't done a major battery drain on mine yet, I think I took it as far as a warning I got about needing to charge it then opted to charge it but from my old *gag* iPod Nano and even my beloved Zune, if there's a total battery drain, it's taken a couple hours before I could turn the thing on even while plugged into the charger, perhaps the droid's the same way?
