Can't save media from texts or vid messaging

I did search and I can't find the info. for some reason I can't seem to download any media that is sent to me. If someone sends me a pic or video i can't save the media to the phone or card. Is there something I need to change on the phone's setting somewhere so this can be done?

I also noticed I can't forward messages either.

BTW, im not rooted. I just got the phone a few days ago.

Have you tried a long press on the pic/vid that was sent to you?

I feel stupid. I finally figured it out. I didn't hold the message in the correct part of the screen to bring up the options.

No menu pops up at all? Have you tried long pressing next to the message, outside the bubble?
