this phone better ship with gingerbread since its not even due to come out till q2 especially if theyre gonna lock the bootloader again. if this thing ships with froyo which would be nearly a year after froyo came out it could be a deal breaker for me.

As the specs listed it when it was first announced they stated it would come with 2.2 Froyo. I haven't checked back since then so I do not know if they've updated it.

Yeah at this point if it ships with anything less than Gingerbread it'd be a fail on Moto's part.

From what I have found out is it will have not the full release of ginger bread as Ginger bread is needed for dual core. And we will be seeing it before Summer.

Dev builds for these phones are up to 2.3 GRH55 but release candidates are all 2.2.1 builds.

When you say "these phones" are you referring to Bionic?

GB will not truly support dual-cores, we will need Honeycomb for that most likely, so it won't really matter what it ships with, you will be stuck using only 1 core for half a year...

Not sure what articles you are reading. I've seen a few others too.
Rumor: Android 2.4 Coming in April to Add Dual-Core Support; Name Remains Gingerbread? http://phandroid.com/?p=40016

Like I said i've seen it other places too. I look at tech articles all day long so I don't remember where all I saw it. That was just one of the places. I would think it would stand to reason that the next version of Android would support dual core since so many dual core phones are about to come out. That's just me thinking logically though...

    im no expert

From what I read qand seen for the dualcore we did indeed need gingerbread. The Nexus S is out and runing smooth. I rooted my friends and hooked him up with all the dark widgets from this D1 forum.

So now that all of these phones are being said to ship with 2.4 and that all of the changes are under the hood do you still think that there's no dual core support?
