battery life on 5.1 sorcery

I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions for the best combination of sorcery and kernel is or what's worked the best for them?

Each phone acts a little differently and responds to ROM and kernel combos differently. You may have to keep flashing different kernels with your ROM of choice. I personally tend to stick with the kernel that is implemented into the ROM.
