Automatic Brightness

I assume the "automatic backlight" setting in the display settings menu is supposed to tweak the automatic brightness (although maybe I'm wrong about that). However, I can't make heads or tails of those settings or what they mean. All I want to do is tune up the relative brightness of the automatic brightness. The dim auto-brightness is the only thing I don't like about this ROM. Can anyone help me with that?

Android's built-in screen brightness policy is not always satisfactory.

My current settings: (1) enable Custom Mode (30% *common* brightness)
(2) enable Outdoor Brightness (95% brightness for high ambient light condition)
