YU devices are among the most popular devices in Asia. They have made a name for themselves by supporting custom rom developers and really embracing the custom rom community. Some of their more recent devices have included CyanogenOS as the stock rom. Yesterday they announced the Android M AOSP Rom Build Challenge. They are accepting any and all builds of Android M AOSP for YU devices.

They have also stated that they will provide support along the way including tools, tutorials, guidance, and even devices. The best ROM will be featured by YU and stable builds for their devices will be based on it. The top 3 roms for each category will win various prizes.

Even if you are not a Rom developer this is pretty exciting stuff. It is awesome to see actual OEMs working directly with the rom community instead of locking down devices making them close to impossible to run roms on. The deadline for submission is December 10.
