Xiaomi is already China's largest OEM and it appears that they are getting ready to be even bigger! They will reportedly be manufacturing their very own SOCs for their lower budget handsets for the final quarter of 2017. This would be a fantastic opportunity to work out any kinks before moving on to SOCs for higher budget devices. This is also potentially disastrous for other chip makers Qualcomm and MediaTek who have been providing the SOCs for Xiaomi in the past few years.

The upcoming Xiaomi Meri may be the first device from the OEM to feature an in house chip. There are a few Antutu benchmark screenshots floating around right now which show the phone also includes a Mali-T860 GPU and a 5.46" Full HD screen. It will be very interesting to see if Xiaomi will be able to deliver the amount of chips needed for their own devices. They sold over 10million devices in Q2 of 2016 alone!
