If you are like me you go straight home and root your device after purchasing it in the store. If you are really like me then you have done your research and downloaded all the necessary files and read the proper tutorials for your device prior to purchasing the phone. Finding out how to root a particular device can sometimes be daunting if it is an older device you will have to dig through potentially hundreds of threads and determine which root thread is the best to go buy since some of the threads may actually be for older software versions for your phone.

XDA has decided to make this process easier than it has ever been. They have released a root directory. The root directory is maintained by "PG101". The directory includes downloads and procedures for pretty much every relevant device from the past few years. Links are organized by OEM to make things easy to find, and you can even find specific root info for different carrier versions. Head to the link below to check it out.

I've rooted a couple rather obscure Sammy variants for a friend and it took ten times longer to actually find the appropriate files for unlocking/rooting than the actual unlock/root process. This is awesome!
