World phone?

Hi all,

I have a bionic that I have been using since the day it came out. Love the phone!

I just got a new job that will require world traveling such as to Europe, possibly Russia and middle east.

I don't believe the Bionic is a world phone... So which Verizon phones will do that? Would I get a world phone and then buy a sim in the country I am visiting?

The office manager said they use Verizon for the company plan and they have an iphone 4 I can use if I want (ugh). I would rather get an android phone off contract so I can keep my unlimited data plan.

Which phone and how does this work?

Actually it's doable with the bionic. search cell_zealot's posts. That hack was nailed last summer.

I'm reading about that. Can anyone comment on the actual process of traveling overseas and how to do it?

Try PMing cell_zealot, he's a good guy. I'm sure he'll walk you through the hack and the practicalities. All of the later verizon moto phones are global capable, the verizon version of the firmware just can't see the gsm radios.

I'm sure it just involves flashing something in bootstrap and then configuring it.
