Just saw this at the airport this morning. Great idea if you are a frequent traveler. Never have to remember if you charged your spare battery.

Their website says unlimited free swaps. Not bad for $20

Really clever. Problem with ideas like this one thought is that many will simply disappear. The list inventory of chargers will wind up cutting into profits. Now of course they don't cost that much at wholesale prices so there's probably at least 50% profit against the $20 fee but still.

Then there's the rent they're paying for that location, the cost for the kiosk and power, hmmm. Have to find out more about this. $20 for unlimited swaps sounds awfully cheap.

The charging stations make more sense from a revenue basis. I've seen those everywhere. Like little lockers and you place your phone inside, connect it and close the door and lock it.

Very cool but a couple years late. IMO not really needed as much these days as airports have added charging stations everywhere these days.

I must admit that grab and run is certainly more appealing than plug and wait, especially if you're in a hurry. The other advantage to the charger swap is that it can be taken on the plane. Still, with Quick Charge 2.0 being introduced even 15 minutes in a standard wall jack is a huge boost to the battery charge... Gotta love my Turbo.

I'll add that although there are rechargeable portable charging packs, there are also portable chargers that take standard AA or AAA batteries since those are available virtually everywhere and even some more compact ones that use CR123a 3V batteries, they are a great item to just throw in your bag and have for emergencies.
