Factory cables are used to work on phones regardless of battery status. Even without a battery...

Imagine your battery dying while you are flashing something or you bricking your phone to a point that it won't charge the battery....you'd be screwed without a charging dock or an extra battery that's charged.

A factory cable makes it so you don't have to worry about that

The cable that comes out if the box with bionic needs to have a charged battery present in order to function...while a "factory" cable does not....

And the factory cable ADAPTERS are even more awesome as they turn any USB cable into a factory cable. ;) I just got my 2 today. I've had a factory cable for a while now, but, the adapters are awesome.

The one you got out of the box isn't a factory cable. It's an OEM cable.

Thanks both of you, now I know and Knowing is half the battle.

getting an extra 25 dollars to order one right now is another battle, but if my 2 sisters and mother we not all born in October it would be alot easier.

Get an adapter so you can just throw it on the end of your OEM cable when needed. MUCH better solution.

Did you get yours through Team Black Hat?

I only mentioned and asked about the issue I was having with SA and my volume because I thought that I could go to the community for help. I wasn't sure if mine was an isolated issue or a more widespread issue - all I know is that it was a P.I.A. to not have volume after a certain SA would kick in.

So, in the future, instead of posting my issue publicly on the forums I will try to send them out to the community using my keen sense of telepathy - then sit back and wait for an answer! :happy3:

I was being sarcastic man, the way this ICS fiasco has been I wouldn't put it past them to delay it or cancel it over something stupid like 1 app not working.

About to enter the HoB

so I can't wait any longer. I am making the plunge. You guys are just having way to much fun.

I have a question and Sam if it has been answered, please smack the crap out of me.

So I have backed up everything (even put it on an external drive just in case). I have .905 stock rooted. Using a script through ROM Toolbox to set the CPU to 1.2 on boot (do I need to disable this). Using ADW Launcher. Using TiBackup to freeze a crap load of bloat. Thats about it for any customizations.

Now the way I read the steps is I do the following:

On PC install the Moto Device Manager (driver)
On PC install the SamuriHL_HouseOfBionic_(7.7).exe
On PC install the SamuriHL_HouseOfBionic_FXZ_(5.9.905).exe
On PC install the SamuriHL_HouseOfBionic_RSD_(5.7).exe
On PC install the SamuriHL_HouseOfBionic_(247).exe for the updates you want support for

On Phone:
Make backup of all your apps and data
Boot into recovery and clear the cache
Reboot the phone
Ensure you have a charged battery and a factory cable
Plug in your USB cable
Enable USB debugging
Set USB to media device (MTP) or Charge Only mode

On PC
Click Start, Programs, House Of Bionic, House Of Bionic file (not the link to the web site :))
Select the 247 file to install and follow the menus
Once complete, reinstall your apps and if you want to disable more that what Sam has disabled in this flash then you need to manually do it to your own tastes. Hell you can even FDR after it is complete to get a "fresh OTA feel" install but doing this will mean you have to manually go through all the rooting stuff and freezing apps. etc.

Anything left out that will bite me?

Just an FYI, as I'm catching up reading some of these posts, I found using the HeyTell app on .246 and .247 would hang the external speaker on my Bionic making it not work. It never did this in .905. My point is it may not be SA, don't forget to look at some of the apps you are using regularly.

I know you weren't being sarcastic, just looking for some help.

This build is 99.9% solid and maybe all I need to do is try a FDR (even though one user said he had tried that).

That would be crazy if they delayed this over 1 stupid thing...but companies have done crazier things.

I am with you though, this thing needs to be pushed OTA asap so we can get out hands on that coveted FXZ and being our journey to that wonderful hill of Jelly Beans!
