Wired tether....need help

Ok just a quick question I use my wired tether most every day and yesterday I lugged my phone into the USB and it registered as being plugged in. As soon as I turned on the wired tether it disconnected the USB connection and did not connect again until I turned off the wired tether. Does anyone know how to fix this? I was using the wired tether function for the new Miui....any help would be awesome.

I am having the same problem. Using a rooted Droid 1 with SP3 xp machine.

Here is what I have to do to get it to work:
Plug it in and the usb and debugging icons show up then i turn on wired tether and it connects.
when i disconnect i turn off wired tether and unplug the phone.

the problem:
when i come back and want to tether again i plug in usb and now the icons for usb and debug dont even show.

the fix which i don't want to do.
i have to plug it into another computer usually my mac at home and then make sure both the computer and phone have been restarted.

this sucks can anyone help?
