Will D3 work on a 4G network at 3G speed?

I dropped my D1 over the weekend and the screen shattered. I have no insurance on it...and given Verizon's high price per month, IMO, I'm glad because I wouldn't have gotten my moneys worth out of it and I'm usually very good with keeping my phone safe. The D1 is tough though as it still works but I catch my finger on the cracks now and then and obviously it looks terrible.

Anyway, I live in an area that has not been upgraded to 3G and my display has shown 1x for two years. The governor, on his way out, worked out a deal with Verizon when they sold all their other business in the state to upgrade major portions to 4g. So, the 4g is coming and rather soon...I'm leaning toward the D3 as a replacement but want to know if its 3g capability will work if Verizon has only placed the 4g lte network?

It's not a 4g phone, so you won't get 4g speeds or the icon for that matter.

3g will be around for years, much like how 2g/1x is around. Even when VZW switches all towers to 4g, a 3g signal will be continuously put out....at least i think that's how it works.

interesting place you live in to have only 1x....
