wifi login - how to get it out of your phone

I'm sitting here at my father-in-law's, tethered to my phone because I can;t access his wifi. I for got his login. However, the login is in my phone which has found his wifi. How do I get the password out of my network data? The network shows up but not the password.

What kind of encryption is the WIFI using?

Password could be underneath the modem.
If it happens to be at& t dsl, it will be a series of numbers on the bottom.
