Wifi Application?

Hi... I have a problem using wifi at work.. When I try to connect to wifi with default settings it shows Limited Connectivity .. So I go to Wifi settings>advanced settings and use Static Ip and assign static ip with dns and stuff which were given to me by IT guys their.. But still I cant use wifi at work.. It just shows connecting.. Obtaining Ip address and Disconnect.. So the problem seems to be it cant get Ip from router.. IT guys dont know what the problem is because most of them got Iphone and in Iphone you can assign different Ip for different Network I guess.. if there was an application via which I could assign Ip manaully?

And yeh .. I have Sony Ericsson Xperia X10i.. using Gingerbread 2.3.3...
