WiFi Annoyance

The ONLY negative I can find on the S3 is, for whatever reason, Samsung decided we need to have our WiFi on 24/7. Yes, you can turn it off, but as soon as it sees a connection, it comes right back on!!!

Has anyone come across a third party app that will override this feature? They have all these battery saving configurations and yet, configure a phone that forces one of the biggest resource hogs to be on all the time!!! :icon_eek:

It won't jump on a wifi network automatically unless you selected it to join known networks at one point. I learned that the hard way. I did a factory reset a while back and when the pop up came on I backed out of the screen so as not to choose to always connect. Then I did the mod to stop the annoying pop up and it's perfect now...

Open up wi-fi, turn it off, and uncheck "notify me"

Oh wow.... I didnt know that this was such a battery drain. I guess bc I have been getting good battery life. I also switch between wifi and 4g alot..

Wonder what my battery life would be like with it turned off??

It's only a drain if it can't connect and is searching constantly.

Yeah I tested this for a few days each, either leaving it on to auto, leaving it off entirely, or doing it manually....I noticed no difference. MAYBE a few percentage points but it's marginal, I wouldn't sweat over it.

Some phones do have severe, random battery drain though, still can't figure that one out.

I just downloaded a toggle switch to turn the Wifi off and on manually if desired. None of the programs will override the S3 by turning the WiFi off or on.
