WiFi always on?

I am trying to figure out what is best for the WiFi. Should I keep it enabled all the time or do I use an app to disable it when I am not near saved wifi location like home or work?

What do you do and what is best for battery life?

I only use wifi when I know im going to connect to a wifi connection. Power control widget comes stock and has a wifi toggle, along with the blur toggle widgets. If you leave wifi on while not connected and not in use, it will drain your battery.

This.

You'll save battery life using wifi instead of 3G if you have a wifi connection. 3G deactivates when you're connected to wifi. But if you have no wifi connection, then turn it off. Running both wifi and 3G will drain your battery. There are native widgets that let you turn wifi on and off easily and there are tons of others in the market.
