Why I can't send eMails via Hotmail because of an "Invalid Server Certificate"?

I can't send any eMails from my hotmail, although I can receive them just fine. I tried talking to Verizon tech support and they had no idea what to do, since my settings were just fine... can someone help?

Do you have it set with TLS and correct port? smtp.live.com (TLS enabled, port 587)

Yes I do, the weird thing is, my x only uses tls, it literally doesn't give an option to change it to asl or something like that. The port for outgoing is 587 as you said

Weird, because my wife uses Hotmail and what you describe is how hers is set up, I just checked.

But, this is interesting...from: How to setup Hotmail on Android Phones

It says to use Exchange. Try the link instructions and see how that goes.
