Why can't I setup my gmail account?

Here's what happens:

1) I tap on the 'Email' icon. A 'Set Up Accounts' page comes up.
2) I tap on the 'Email Accounts' option and a 'Select email account to add.' page comes up.
3) I tap on 'Gmail' and it ask me to enter my existing gmail account.
4) I do so, and it says 'Attention Invalid credentials.' even though my gmail account name and password are specified correctly.

Any advise?

Go to your browser and try signing in once you've dine that hit your home button and try adding it again, see if that works.

If by tapping on "Email" means you are using the stock email app that is probably your problem. That program is riddled with problems, just go into the 'Gmail" app add your info there. Or just go into settings>accounts>add account>and choose Gmail and add the info in there.

That seemed to be the problem. (I had already added gmail in the settings.) So, I just created a gmail shortcut which works just as well or better.

Thanks!

Is it possible to receive some kind of alert when my gmail account receives an email (or better still an email from a specific user or group)?
