Where'd the data go?

When I mount my Droid (Mac OS 10.6) and right click on the HD icon, Get Info shows only 2.34 GB space remaining on the 16 GB SD card. When I Get Info on the displayed folders I've got less than 6 GB listed total. The way I interpret this is that something like 7 GB is hidden somewhere. Where, and what would be there?
