I was told I could plug this gadget to my HDTV box record TV shows like a PVR. I just don't know the right name to look for it.
Any leads will be appreciated.

It was way simpler than I thought! It's just a regular Flash drive. As long as it has a minimum of 50Gb you're good.
This is assuming the receiver box has a USB port.
If it's an older model, then I don't know if there's still a way.

Not a problem
I was realizing that the solution for the older models would be to connect an VCR machine. Not ideal, but better than nothing.

Actually..... I should apologize
It turns out there are more requirements than just the capacity:
It's assumed that this is an actual ext Hard drive.
Rotation speed has to be 7200 minimum.
Holds a single disk, not 2.
Plugs into an AC power outlet.
Has a USB 2 connection.
Has no sleep mode.

I was just about to get a regular Flash drive
Oh well!

By the way, all that applies to my 6400 Bell receiver.

We pay for DVR from our cable company. It's worth it imo to be able to watch our shows when we want, pause live TV, & fast forward through commercials.
