What is that symbol at the top of my screen to the left of the WIFI signal strength?

I never noticed that symbol to the left of the one for my WIFI signal strength until tonight. Maybe it's been there all along, but I never noticed it before.

your phone is on vibrate/volume is all the way down

Unless I am misunderstanding which one you are talking about its your vibrate indicator.

Thanks. That's it. I put it on vibrate earlier today while attending a meeting and didn't take it back off.
