what is fission exactly?

hi, i would like to know what is fission? like what do they mean by asop and vanilla and all that jazz? im pretty new to android and im thinking i want fission so i can get rid of all the blur and my droid will have better battery life!

Aosp stands for android open source (project) I put that last part in parenthesis cause I can never remember if that's what it is. Anyway that means that it is total android, free of blur. Like the nexus or original droid. That's also what vanilla means. So basically its a rom that is very close to stock android.
