what does save unknown contact to people do?

Ok if I hit Phone, the the menu button and then settings

there is a box that says save unknown contacts to PEOPLE its checked but doesnt do anything

is this a glitch?

I'm pretty sure that's the setting for when you call or receive a call from a number you don't have in your phone book, when you hang up it'll popup a box asking if you'd like to save the contact information.

i used to get that pop up but not anymore.....not since the latest upgrade
