What apps are sweet right now? I want the forums opinion...

Is Boat Browser faster than stock? Stable?

I'll have to do a little research. Thanks for the heads-up.

Boat is pretty good. I'd say download it and try doing the same thing on both browsers. Boat seems to have 2 search options; one to look for a site and the other to look for words. You also can put favorites on the main page and take screenshots.

The best thing is that it, like Dolphin, is free so it won't cost you anything to try it.

I used stock until boat browser. Use the full version. It's very stable and fast and the tabs work well.

I'm going to try boat browser... thanks!

I also like:
aCar - Keep track of car expenses and gas MPG
CamScanner - make PDF's
PdaNet - Wired teathering
My Tracks - works great for sharing tracks with friends for anything like dirtbiking, bicycling, walking, hiking,
caller id faker - self explanatory... very fun

That's all I can think of now.

Here's few apps that I use:

1) BeyondPod: a good app for getting podcasts. I'm using the free version, but the full version has a lot of neat features, as well.
2) gReader: Another RSS app. Not as pretty as Pulse or Taptu, but I've found it to be faster and a little less laggy. YMMV
3) QuickPic: An alternate gallery app. Definitely prefer it over stock
4) Dropbox: Fairly well known by now, but I find it extremely useful for cloud file storage
5) AudioManager Pro: Great app for controlling volume. Also allows for profiles on a schedule, so you can have the phone automatically turn down ringer and alert volume at night.

I like to change up my device's look a lot, so Minimalistic Text, mClock, Desktop Visualizer and WidgetLocker (all of which have been mentioned) are all useful.

As far as games: Cut the Rope, Fruit Ninja, Wordfeud, psx4droid (PSX emulator), and WordzUp! (a Boggle-like game) are the main ones, though now that I'm off the OG, I'm starting to try out some of the more intensive games.

There is a free tiny utility app called DiskUsage. You can look at all memory areas and it'll show what you have there and how big the files are. Using it on my OG Droid I discovered why I kept running out of storage despite deleting apps to make room. I was using the stock email app and found out that even if the email is deleted from the server it wasn't being deleted from the phone so I had 30mb (about 1,700) of trashed messages. I cleared that and had more room (I also switched to K-9 because with the stock email app you could only delete one at a time.

No issues with mine; did you get yours resolved?

The problem with Taptu was a server issue, according to the developer on a thread that SSHGuru started. So there's no worries. Just saying this here so others would know.

Back to apps; there's a couple of apps that will allow you to find the name of a song just by listening. One is Shazam which is free and SoundHound which is both free and paid. You can take a look at Shazam Vs SoundHound: Battle Of The Mobile Song ID Services | Lifehacker Australia for a comparison between the two. In my own test SoundHound was a bit faster to find the title than Shazam.

The Taptu developer was very responsive. I'm impressed.

Although you can just use folders to put apps in a small area, there's a app called Apps Organizer. What you do is create a Label and give it a name (like Tools or Games). Then move the apps into that Label. This way you can put a lot of apps on a screen in a spot that only one app would occupy. If you have Go Launcher or Launcher Pro you can put any Apps Organizer labels in the dock.

These lists are great especially for a rookie like me. I have been trying apps out and adding apps.
