way to root the droid without using a computer?

Sure just use the astro file manager(free in the market place) to copy the update.zip file from the download folder to the root folder on your sd card

I'm very new to the droid world . I have been a bb user forever but after goin through 3 storm ones and a storm 2 in 40 days I switched to the moto droid n I love it . Can u give me some info on wat exactly rooting does n wat the benefits are I would really appreciate it . N also maybe a step by step on the easiest way to do is thank u .
