Open Z4 and when you root, make sure you do a permanent root. Don't worry because a temporary root just means you're rooted until you boot again. A permanent root just means you stay rooted, even after a reboot, until you decide to unroot yourself. And to do that you just pick the option to unroot the next time you open Z4 that will be there after you root. It's that easy.

+1! Also, if you want to be able to accept an OTA:
-As soon as you're rooted, go grab the DX Bootstrapper from the market
-Open it
-Choose "Bootstrap Recovery"
-Allow SuperUser permission
-Hit "Ok"at "Success!" pop-up
-Select "Reboot Recovery"
-You should now be in Clockworkmod Recovery
-Use your volume keys to scroll to "Backup/Restore"
-Press your camera button to select it
-Press it again on "Backup" (Will take a few to finish - don't panic)
-Once done, and if not already there, press your power button until "Reboot System Now" is highlighted
-Press camera button to reboot
Now that you've made a backup, its as simple as restoring said backup to take the OTA....hopefully, you'll be able to root again afterwards.
