Volume rocker track skipping?

is there an app that is free that imitates some custom roms on the droid that lets you skip tracks when the screen is off by long pressing on the volume rocker?

Its not free, $1.99 i think, on the market, button remapper. Im using it now works great, you can reasign several of the hardware key functions.

interesting read, however not interested in remapping the key, per say, looking to add functionality to it when the screen is off. not sure if i want to pay $2 for an app on the market, if there's an 'easy' way to go about hacking it into my phone
