Volume Rocker Issues

The volume rocker on my D2 is a little broken. There is still that "click" when I use volume up, but the voume down seems to be flat with no rebound when pushed. It makes it very hard to use the volume up sometimes, and is very sensitive to touch (it will lower volume if the rocker is touched slightly).
I have a D4 now and use my D2 as a DroidTouch type device, using it mainly for workouts, GPS, and music. Since Music is a large part of it the volume rocker issue is pretty big for me. Is there a way to basically disable the volume rocker and just find an onscreen app for volume control? Does anyone know of a volume controller I can use on the lock screen along with the general music controls it displays?
