Volume control

When I am changing my ringtone or message tones and I change the volume both SEEM to have their own volume control but when I change it one just supersedes the other which usually results in having one really loud or really soft tone and it's getting irritating. Am I missing something?

Go to Settings> Sounds > Volume > check that use incoming calls volume for notifications is not ticked. This will allow those two sliders (ringtone and Notification) to work independently.
