Voice to text typing not working

It doesn't seem to matter which keyboard I use but when I tap the microphone the voice to text screen comes up but nothing happens when I speak. I've tried Bluetooth on and then off. Any ideas?

Can you snap a screenshot of what you see when you try to use it? I don't use voice-to-text near as often as I use voice search, but I just tried it and mine appears to be working just fine on my Note 4.

Nope no packages stopped, and while the speech to text screen is up, it won't let me do a screen capture.

Even weirder, it works over bluetooth but not over the phone's microphone.
