Preach2k brought us the first video of the new Samsung Galaxy Round device. It was a short little rollover video show-casing the curved shape of the device. Shortly after his post, the device was officially launched, and a new hands-on video has already cropped up to show off more of the device.

For the most part folks in the press are calling this one a gimmick, but of course, people said the same thing about the first Galaxy Note phablet device, and that product series turned into a monster hit. Of course, here in the forums, our opinion at HQ is much less important to us than yours is. We would much rather hear what you guys think of the new Galaxy Round. Is this thing going to be a game-changer, a silly failure, or something in-between?

Well, I'm KIND OF on the "gimmick" side... but it's a cool gimmick, I'll say that--and I can see how it would fit the curve of your face better that a flat phone. But that's never been a problem for me, and I own the Galaxy Note 2. I would never upgrade to get a curved screen. I may have a limited imagination, but I can't visualize any apps that would take advantage of a curved screen. and how are videos, games, and movies going to look on this thing?

I might be a party pooper here, but I see that and ask why? I don't see a benefit to that, and I especially don't want a phone that won't lay flat on my desk. Anyone else see that plastic backing not laying flush with it being curved too? That would drive my OCD crazy.

If mankind never took the risks to explore, we never would had evolved. This could just be the first unexciting step to miraculous things to come. OR considering that Samsung didn't attach the technology to one of their other well known and popular monikors and instead went with "Round", well...
