Video playback is terrible

Thought it was just with the NFL Mobile app, but today it was awful on youtube too - really blocky, jerky and could hardly make anything out at all - tried exactly the same links on the wife's pre plus and it was stunning.......

Any ideas?

Assuming you have a good connection, make sure you select HD video from the app. Doesn't tend to load HD, but rather standard. World of difference.

did you have it on high quality? it really is a world of difference.

nfl mobile app doesn't run on HQ without wifi i believe, haven't tried it though.

edit: just tried it with wifi on, didn't change quality.

Sorry, yeah, meant to say that high quality is definitely better when it comes to youtube (is there a high quality option for NFL mobile?), but it's still nowhere near as clear as the pre plus.

You would not believe how much grief i'm getting from the missus about this whole saga.........

Search for 1080 movie trailers on youtube, make sure you watch them in high quality, and then tell me the Droid can't play beautiful, HD videos well.

Not saying they can't at all.

All i'm saying is that when I watch the same links on my Droid and the missus' pre plus, her video playback is far, far better. Regardless of the high quality option on the Droid.

Maybe that's why they call it a Plus for the palm pre. :)
