Hi there,

I was running CM11 on my Galaxy S2+, but over time two issues developed - vibration stopped working (gradually) and during a phone call, if I turned on the loudspeaker, mic stopped working. I recently did a full wipe and clean flash of CM12, hoping it would solve the problems, but to no avail! Other users of same ROM don't report such problems.

How can I determine whether this is a software or hardware issue without returning to the stock rom?

Welcome to the Forum. Did the issue start after a CM update?

Vibration - certainly not. As I said, it started to fade gradually while I was using CM11. It used to spontaneously start/stop working, until it stopped altogether. Regarding microphone, I don't remember exactly. Could have been after one of the updates of CM11, since I use an unofficial ROM and update it manually.

To be sure, you will need to return it to stock to see if the issue still exists. Gut tells me it's a hardware issue.

I without tend to agree with Jeffrey about the vibrator being a hardware failure. Just the fact that it had diminished "gradually" indicates possibly motor failure.

Going to completely stock ROM will assure you if it is hardware or not.

OK, reporting that got both issues fixed by warranty, they were hardware problems indeed!
